Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his Apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It includes three degrees: episcopate, presbyterate, and diaconate.
(Catechism of the Catholic Church #1536)
Ordination is the rite by which the Sacrament of Holy Orders is bestowed. The Bishop confers the Sacrament of Holy Orders by the laying on of hands which confers on a man the grace and spiritual power to celebrate the Church’s Sacraments.
St. Mary of the Assumption works with the Diocesan Vocations Office to promote vocations to the priesthood and diaconate.
