Weekend Updates

Good Friday Evening!

Hope you all had a wonderful week. This weekend we celebrate Christ the King and begin to look forward to a new liturgical year with the beginning of Advent next weekend.

A few things on the docket for the weekend/week ahead: The Charlevoix Community Thanksgiving Dinner is on Thursday, November 26 from 12-2. We are in need of volunteers for delivery as well as donations of desserts – pies, bars and cookies are great options (easy to cut/divvy up for take out). If you would like to help out, please call Donna Swanson: 231-622-2062.
The Mass schedule for next week will be Monday at 12pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at 8:30am, No Mass on Friday. Also no adoration or confession on Thursday or Friday. In addition, the parish office will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
If you are able to help with cleaning after Masses this weekendplease sign up here.  A big thank you to our consistent volunteers who have helped out over the last few months – we are so grateful for your help!
The Charlevoix Community Christmas Project is underway. We have tags for families to adopt in the gathering space this weekend, or you can email Rebecca Jeakle for information on adopting a child or family (jeakle@att.net). PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO SIGN YOUR TAG OUT.  Additionally we are in need of 250 boxes of brownie mix to send home with the Christmas families so please add that to your Thanksgiving shopping list – brownie mixes should be on sale!
If you are an active Liturgical Minister or Eucharistic Minister and would like to take part in a special training to visit the “worried well” of our Parish who have been unable to attend Mass because of COVID-19 but would like to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist, please join us for a training on Tuesday, November 24 at 6pm.
Lessons & Carols will be held on Sunday, November 29 at 5pm. Please join us in the church for an hour of scripture and song to celebrate the beginning of Advent. All are welcome.
We will be hosting an Advent Formation Series with The Search on FORMED.org. Zoom meetings will be on Tuesday evenings at 5pm during the four weeks of Advent. If you would like to participate, please call the Parish office to sign up: 231-547-6652.
St. Mary School will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner (change from Fish Fry previously announced!) on Friday, December 11 from 5-7pm – take out style. Cost is $10 per person.
Father Peter’s article, Christ the King, is now available on the Charlevoix Courier website.
Please keep the Steffey family in your prayers. Dr. Tyler Steffey’s funeral Mass will be on Saturday at St. Anne’s Church in Grayling. His obituary can be found on the Sorenson Lockwood Funeral Home website
Enjoy your weekend!
“Can there be a more fitting pursuit in youth or a more valuable possession in old age than a knowledge of Holy Scripture? In the midst of storms it will preserve you from the dangers of shipwreck and guide you to the shore of an enchanting paradise and the ever-lasting bliss of the angels.”
