Tuesday News From St. Mary Charlevoix

Happy Birthday to Mary, Mother of God!

I hope you all had a relaxing long weekend! In celebration of Mary’s birthday today, FORMED is offering this study, Mary, The Mother of God. As Father Peter encouraged this morning in his homily, by opening ourselves  up to the graces of Mary we will  give her the best birthday present ever!
Just a few reminders for this week:

  • A quick reminder that we are offering Liturgical Minister training tonight at 5:30 pm in the church. If you are interested in becoming a reader for weekend or daily Mass, please join us tonight!
  • We are thrilled to welcome Elizabeth Gengle to our staff as our new Middle School Religion teacher and director of Sacramental Preparation. Liz has served as a youth group leader at St. Francis, Petoskey and has led many retreats in our area.  She is excited to get to know the people of St. Mary Parish so please say hello and introduce yourself if you see her. Liz will also assist Father Peter with Faith Formation programming for the Parish. Sacramental preparation classes will begin later this month so stay tuned for that notice.
  • We continue to pray the 9-day novena for repentance and conversion.  We will pray this novena at the end of every Mass leading up to the feast of our Lady of Sorrows on September 15. The novena can be found at the link here.
  • Fr. Innocent’s birthday is today, September 8. If you would like to send him a card, his address is: Fr. Innocent Zambua, c/o Holy Family Catholic Church, 516 W. Lincoln St, East Tawas, MI 48730. I am sure he would appreciate a phone call or an email as well.

Enjoy the rest of your week!
