Good Morning

Friday’s monumental Supreme Court decision took place on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  I cannot help but believe that the Heart of Jesus rejoices over this movement to uphold the dignity of every human life created and loved by him.

At the same time we also know that the Heart of Jesus desires to bring healing and peace to all those who have experienced the pain and sorrow of abortion.  While we have been working and praying for Roe vs. Wade to be overturned, there is still so much work to be done.  More urgent than ever is the need for compassion for those who are hurting, mercy for those who have transgressed against us and common decency and respect for those who disagree with us.  We also need to work tirelessly to surround women who find themselves in difficult circumstances with the love a support they need.  Training both men and women in the virtues of the Christian life will help us to treat one another with the respect and love that we each deserve.

The Christian way teaches us to take responsibility for our actions.  We are to love in all circumstances, which means that we turn the other cheek and we never repay evil with evil.  Because our world is so broken and divided, we need to find our guidance and strength in the Heart of Jesus.

Let us continue to pray for an end to all abortion and for peace in our country.  Blessings to you all.
